Barbara Hannigan is the Music Director of the 73rd edition of the Ojai Music Festival. She has curated a spectacular programme with a series of contrasting pieces, creating a synthesis of darkness and light. On the Festival’s opening day Barbara conducts and directs a semi-staged performance of Stravinsky’s Rake’s Progress, featuring LUDWIG and singers from Barbara’s Equilibrium Programme. Throughout the Festival, Barbara will perform as both a conductor and soprano, speaker and mentor. Other artists featured at the Festival includes Alexa Ciciretti (cello), Stephen Gosling (piano), Edo Frenkel (conductor and piano), Steven Schick (conductor and percussion) and the JACK Quartet. The diverse programme includes music from Zorn, Grisey, Gershwin, Haydn, Schoenberg, Debussy, Ravel and others. The Festival will take place in Ojai, California from 6 – 9 June 2019.
