The first recording of a new Sibelius cycle by the Gothenburg Symphony under chief-conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali, which was released earlier this year, is wowing critics from across Europe. The album, which features Sibelius’ First Symphony paired with the early tone poem En saga, is not only receiving rave reviews but has also been awarded numerous prizes, including the Gramophone Editor’s choice award, the Choc de Classica, the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik as well as the prestigious French Diapason d’Or ​“Decouverte”. This forms the first part of a complete cycle of Sibelius’ symphonies alongside some of his symphonic poems, released by Alpha.
