On 10 April, Alexei Volodin returns to the BBC Symphony Orchestra to perform Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No.2 in F major under the baton of Semyon Bychkov at the Barbican. The concert programme, titled ​“Shostakovich: The Year 1957”, features another two pieces written by the composer during that same year; Symphony No.11 in G minor and Variations on a Theme by Glinka for solo piano, with the latter performed by Volodin. The concert is broadcasted live on BBC Radio 3.
