13/12/2018
Following a performance of the complete Ligeti Etudes last month, Pierre-Laurent Aimard continues his 2018/19 residency at the Konzerthaus Vienna on 22 December giving a complete account of Messiaen’s Catalogue d’oiseaux, which he recorded last season to inaugurate his exclusive new contract with Pentatone label. This season, Aimard holds several additional European residential posts, including his season-long tenure as the Orchestra’s Artist-in-Residence at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with whom Aimard enjoys a long association. Furthermore, he is Portrait Artist at the Palais des Beaux Arts this season.
Following his performance of Dvořák’s Piano Concerto under the baton of Daniel Harding last week in Amsterdam and Brussels, Pierre-Laurent continues his Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra residency when he reunites with the Orchestra for Beethoven’s Emperor concerto in early 2019. Together they perform in Amsterdam with François-Xavier Roth (January 30 & 31) before embarking on a US tour in February with Daniel Harding. To conclude his residency with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Pierre-Laurent returns to Amsterdam in June to perform the Dutch premiere of Harrison Birtwistle’s Responses, conducted by Vladimir Jurowski. As part of his Portraits residency at the Palais des Beaux Arts, Aimard joins the Chamber Orchestra of Europe to perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.15 leading the Orchestra from the keyboard. To conclude his residencies in Brussels and Vienna, Aimard will give performances of the iconic Goldberg Variations.
