Sayaka Shoji tours Japan with St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra

Sayaka Shoji embarks upon a tour of Japan with St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and her long-time mentor and supporter, Yuri Temirkanov, performing Sibelius’ Violin Concerto.
The tour begins on 10 November with a concert at Toyota City Concert Hall in Aichi and Sayaka then performs with the Orchestra at Suntory Hall in Tokyo (12), Kawaguchi Lilia Hall in Saitama (14), The Symphony Hall in Osaka (17) and Harmonie Cinq Kitakyushu Soleil Hall in Fukuoka (18).
This tour coincides with the release of her latest album on Deutsche Grammophon. The album includes violin concertos by Beethoven and Sibelius and her interpretation of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto features Shoji’s own cadenza which she composed in 2006.
Further ahead, the 2018/19 season will see Sayaka give recitals in Taiwan and Milan and concerts with The Cleveland Orchestra of a new Avner Dorman commission. She will return to Japan in June 2019 to perform Krzystof Pendecrecki’s Second Violin Concerto “ Metamorphosen” under the baton of the composer and Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.
