Daníel Bjarnason releases his sixth album ‘Collider’ on 26 October. With all music composed and conducted by Bjarnason, it comprises of orchestral works originally commissioned by US ensembles: Blow Bright (Los Angeles Philharmonic, 2013), The Isle Is Full Of Noises (American Youth Symphony and Los Angeles Children’s Chorus, 2012) and Collider (Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, 2015).
Produced by Valgeir Sigurðsson, and mixed together with Bjarnason, the album was recorded at Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík, with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, also featuring the Hamrahlid Choir (with Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir as Chorusmaster) in The Isle Is Full Of Noises.
Available through the label Bedroom Community, the recording of ‘Collider’ was supported by RÚV — The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service.
The album follows the soundtrack to the Icelandic film ‘Under The Tree’, released earlier this year, in May. Selected as the Icelandic entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards, the soundtrack won the Best Original Soundtrack of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards in 2017.
