Lucas Macías Navarro made his conducting debut at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires in 2014 following an exceptional career as one of the world’s leading oboists – a former principal of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and founder member of Orchestra Mozart – together with the mentorship of Maestro Claudio Abbado — he has a deep knowledge and understanding of the chamber and symphonic repertoire.
Highlights of the 2018/19 season include debuts with Het Gelders Orkest, Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, Buenos Aires Philharmonic and Orchestre de Cannes, as well as re-invitations to Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Orquestra Simfónica del Vallés, and Oviedo Filarmonía. As a regular conductor of Camerata RCO he will take them to the brand new Zaryadye Hall in Moscow in a programme featuring Berg’s Sieben Frühe Lieder and Mahler’s Symphony No.4.
From 2016 – 2018 Macías Navarro was Assistant Conductor at Orchestre de Paris working closely with Daniel Harding. In previous seasons he has also conducted concerts with Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, L’Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, and Real Filharmonía de Galicia amongst others.
