Osmo Vänskä returns to Orchestre de Paris & Orchestre national de Lyon
3/10/2017
Osmo Vänskä returns to Paris this week to conduct Orchestre de Paris in two concerts on 4 and 5 October at the Grand salle Pierre Boulez of the Philharmonie. Vänskä is joined by violinist Pekka Kuusisto, who performs a different concerto each evening, including the new Violin Concerto from Daniel Bjarnason.
Kuusisto has recently been on tour performing Bjarnason’s work with the Philharmonia Orchestra and Esa-Pekka Salonen in Dortmund, Frankfurt, Brussels and London, after giving its premiere in August with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel at the Hollywood Bowl.
Vänskä then heads on to Lyon, for another return, this time to conduct the Orchestre national de Lyon on 12, 13 and 14 October. Vänskä is joined by violinist Vilde Frang in a programme that also includes Beethoven’s Symphony No.3, a work he previously recorded with the Minnesota Orchestra, as part of a Symphonic Cycle dedicated to the composer.
