Han-Na Chang’s First Performances as Chief Conductor & Artistic Leader of the Trondheim Symfoniorkester
5/9/2017
Han-Na Chang began her tenure as Chief Conductor and Artistic Leader of the Trondheim Symfoniorkester last week in monumental performances of Mahler’s Symphony No.2, with soloists Lilli Paasikivi and Miah Persson. Praising her innate Mahlerian style (and envisaging a future on the podium of the Musikverein in Vienna), Oslo-based Klassekampen writes “Chang has an approach to sound which makes the orchestra play in a way I didn’t know they were capable of… a fabulous musician”, and states the case for the TSO to be treated as an equal of the orchestras in Norway’s bigger cities.
Her opening performances continue this week with Beethoven Piano Concerto No.5 (with Stephen Hough) and Prokofiev Symphony No.5.
