Anne Sofie von Otter gives world premiere in Helsinki
1/9/2017
Anne Sofie von Otter gives the world premiere of Sebastian Fagerlund’s Höstsonaten (Autumn Sonata) for Finnish National Opera conducted by John Storgards and directed by Stéphane Braunschweig. Based on the 1978 film written, directed and starring Ingmar Bergman, the work runs from 8 September to 5 October.
In the leading role of Charlotte Andergast, Anne Sofie von Otter adds this to her wealth of ever-growing contemporary repertoire following her creation of the role of Leonora in the world premiere of Thomas Adès’ latest work The Exterminating Angel at the Salzburger Festspiele, followed by performances at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, as well as Isoldes Abendbrot, a specially curated project for von Otter devised by Christoph Marthaler, and performed at Staatsoper Hamburg, Wiener Festwochen and Theater Basel.
