Teatro Comunale di Bologna gives a performance of Giovanni Martini’s Il Dittico – Il Don Chisciotte & Il Maestro di Musica on 7 October, at the Cervantino Festival in Guanajuato, Mexico. The Festival is at its 44^th edition, dedicated to the fourth Centenary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes.

Both following the format of an Italian intermezzo, Martini’s Il Maestro di Musica & Il Don Chisciotte were composed in 1746 and fully embrace the genre’s miniature and light nature. Il Don Chisciotte, based on Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra’s 1605 novel The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha, encapsulates episodes from the extensive adventures of Alonso Quixano, a wacky Spanish nobleman who assumes the imaginary identity of Don Quixote.

Teatro Comunale di Bologna has a tradition of excellence, being famous for the high quality of its performances and the fame of artists from all over the world. It performs approximately 80 opera performances and 35 symphonic concerts every year and tours regularly in Japan and Europe. For nearly 30 years, the theatre has also been a regular guest with its Orchestra and Chorus at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro.
