Concerto Melante perform in Mexico for the first time
16/9/2016
Concerto Melante perform a concert in Mexico City on 24 September in the series ‘Baroque Music at the Palacio de Bellas Artes’.
The series features performances of some of the most important baroque music ensembles in the world. With a programme titled ‘A German feast’, featuring works of Telemann and Bach, Concerto Melante will delight the audience by playing exclusively on historical instruments.
Named after Georg Philipp Telemann by anagramming the syllables of his family name, the ensemble officially launched in 2008. The origins of today’s Concerto Melante can be traced back to 1998 and the concert series ‘Members and Guests of the Berliner Philharmoniker on Historical Instruments’. Most members perform with the Berliner Philharmoniker, others belong to early music ensembles – including Berliner Barock Solisten.
Commenting on the forthcoming tour, Raimar Orlovsky, leader of the ensemble, said: “We are thrilled to be invited to come to Mexico on September 24 for a concert and we will bring with us German baroque music.”
The concert marks the first time an ensemble of the Berliner Philharmoniker performs in Mexico and HarrisonParrott is delighted to manage the tour.
