The acoustic performance shell, Soundforms, has received an International Architecture Award for 2016 from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies who present it to Soundforms’ architects Flanagan Lawrence.
The International Architectural Awards are the highest and most prestigious distinguished building awards programme that honour new and cutting-edge design. This annual programme, organised by both our institutions, also promotes international architecture and design to our public audience globally.
This year, the museum received a record number of projects for new buildings, landscape architecture, and urban planning from the most important firms practicing globally.
The 2016 jury for the awards was held in Milan during the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale and 130 projects from over 40 nations were selected by a distinguished group of Italian architects, journalists, and educators. This elite group of buildings and urban planning projects selected by the jury will be premiered prior to the Istanbul Design Biennial between 2 – 30 September 2016. The exhibition is entitled The City and the World and is scheduled to travel in Europe, opening at The European Centre’s Contemporary Space Athens in Athens, Greece in 2017.
