27/5/2016
Alexey Stadler makes his US debut performing Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No.1 with San Francisco Symphony under the baton of Vladimir Ashkenazy.
Marking Alexey’s debut with the orchestra and Ashkenazy’s first performance with them since 2009, the concerts take place on 2, 3 and 4 June and are supported by the Shenson Young Artist Debut Fund.
Later this season Alexey will go on to perform recitals with Lukáš Vondráček at St. Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theatre and Menuhin Festival Gstaad.
Forthcoming highlights for Ashkenazy include a return to NHK Symphony Orchestra — conducting six concerts featuring Tchaikovsky’s Concert Fantasy with pianist Rustem Hayroudinoff and Strauss’ Oboe Concerto with soloist François Leleux — and the continuation of his Asian tour which includes a return to the Hong Kong Philharmonic to perform Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.3 with Behzod Abduraimov.
