Ain Anger makes his debut at San Francisco Opera
13/11/2015
Following his successful debut at Washington National Opera earlier this year as Daland (Der fliegende Holländer), Ain Anger now travels to the west coast for his first appearances on the stage of the San Francisco Opera. Sir Mark Elder conducts him as Pogner in David McVicar’s production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, a role he has immortalised on DVD from the Wiener Staatsoper under Christian Thielemann. Performances run from 18 November through 6 December.
This season continues Anger’s current run of major role and house debuts, appearing in the New Year at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Pimen in Richard Jones’s new production of Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov, conducted by Music Director Sir Antonio Pappano, and as Cardinal Brogni in Calixto Bieito’s new production of La Juive under Bertrand de Billy the Bayerische Staatsoper.
