30/10/2015
Hannu Lintu and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra (FRSO) perform five concerts in Japan on a tour organised and managed by HarrisonParrott, to celebrate 150 years since the birth of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.
The tour opens on 2 November at Tokyo’s Sumida Triphony Hall with a programme of Sibelius’ Tapiola and Symphonies Nos.5 and 7, completing Lintu’s Sibelius symphony cycle which he began in October 2015 with the New Japan Philharmonic.
Lintu and the FRSO are then joined by Akiko Suwanai for concerts in Shizuoka (3 November), Tokyo’s Suntory Hall (4 November), Yamaguchi (6 November) and Osaka (8 November). Each concert features Sibelius’ Finlandia, Violin Concerto, and Symphony No.2. The concert in Tokyo is broadcast on TV and radio via NHK and YLE.
