14/8/2015
This week, South-African soprano Golda Schultz makes her debut at the Salzburger Festspiele as Sophie in Harry Kupfer’s production of Der Rosenkavalier. Conducted by Franz Welser-Möst, performances open on 20 August.
After her debut as Sophie at Stadttheater Klagenfurt under Alexander Soddy, Golda Schultz earned unanimous acclaim for her performances of the role at last year’s Munich Opera Festival in the Otto Schenk production under Constantin Trinks.
Schultz has enjoyed a season of major milestones in the run-up to this prestigious debut, including her first appearance at Opernhaus Zürich as Contessa Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) and at Staatsoper Hamburg in the world premiere of Beat Furrer’s la bianca notte, in which she created the leading role of Sibilla under music director Simone Young.
In the upcoming season, Golda’s star continues to rise with her first Liù (Turandot) at the Bayerische Staatsoper, her debut as Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) under Alexander Soddy, and her Glyndebourne Festival debut as Contessa Almaviva.
