Klara Ek returns to Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik with Alessandro De Marchi
7/8/2015
Soprano Klara Ek makes her return to the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik as Rosmonda in Porpora’s Il Germanico in Germania. Conducted by the festival’s Artistic Director, Alessandro De Marchi, performances run from 12 to 20 August.
Although she is often seen on the concert stage (including an upcoming appearance at the BBC Proms), Klara Ek is a skilled exponent of early operatic roles having made appearances as Climene in Hasse’s Leucippo at Oper Köln and Romilda in Handel’s Serse at Den Ny Opera in recent seasons, as well as the title role in Almira at last year’s Innsbrucker Festwochen. She has also recorded the role of Melia (Apollo et Hyacinthus) and Ismene (Mitridate, re di Ponto) with Classical Opera under Ian Page.
Artistic Director of the festival since 2010, Alessandro De Marchi is in demand at the highest level for his interpretations of the great baroque and classical operas and conducts performances of Spontini’s La Vestale at La Monnaie, Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria at Den Norske Opera and Handel’s Giulio Cesare at Semperoper Dresden next season.
