17/7/2015
American tenor Paul Appleby makes his debut at Glyndebourne Festival Opera this week as Jonathan in Barrie Kosky’s highly anticipated new production of Handel’s Saul. Performances run from 23 July to 29 August with Ivor Bolton conducting, followed by a guest performance at the George Enescu Festival, Bucharest in September.
A graduate of The Metropolitan Opera’s prestigious Lindemann Program, and having just performed the role of Tom Rakewell at the house under James Levine to great success, Paul Appleby has already established himself as one of the finest young tenors of his generation with regular appearances at the major theatres and concert halls of North America. He has already debuted at Oper Frankfurt as Tom Rakewell and returns next summer to Glyndebourne in Berlioz’s Béatrice et Bénédict under Robin Ticciati.
