Rumon Gamba makes his debut with Auckland Philharmonia

On 18 June Rumon Gamba makes his debut with the Auckland Philharmonia at Auckland Town Hall, conducting Elgar’s Enigma Variations. The concert also features Douglas Lilburn’s Aotearoa Overture to mark the 100th anniversary of the composer’s birth, as well as Bartók’s Violin Concerto No.2 performed by Benjamin Schmid. Radio New Zealand will broadcast the concert live and it will be also available live online on Radio New Zealand’s website.
The previous week, Rumon Gamba conducts the orchestra in the final of the Michael Hill International Violin Competition on 13 June, of which Benjamin Schmid is a juror.
