Marking another important debut this season for the young Finnish conductor, on 7 February Santtu-Matias Rouvali conducts the MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig.

The concert opens with Prokofiev’s Symphony No.1, and also features two works by Esa-Pekka Salonen – L.A. Variations and Wing on Wing with soloists Anu Komsi and Piia Komsi — and Sibelius’ En Saga. The concert is broadcast on MDR Figaro on 8 February at 18:30 GMT. 

This performance follows Rouvali’s recent debuts with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. Later this season he makes yet another debut, conducting the Wiener Symphoniker at concerts in Vienna, Munich and Salzburg.
