Pekka Kuusisto returns to the UK for a concert with Britten Sinfonia and conductor Thomas Adès at Saffron Hall on 2 November.
A regular collaborator with the orchestra, Kuusisto gives the world premiere of a new work by Francisco Coll, Four Miniatures, which was co-commissioned by the orchestra and Saffron Hall. Kuusisto also performs Sibelius’ Six Humoresques and Adès’ own Violin Concerto, Concentric Paths.
Kuusisto’s performance of the Adès Violin Concerto with the Philharmonia earlier this year was critically acclaimed, with The Telegraph describing him as “the Finnish violinist who surely has the most personal sound of any classical violinist now alive” and The Strad declaring that he “attacked the busy, complex, circular patterning of the first movement with relish”.
