Janine Jansen tours with Chamber Orchestra of Europe in play/direct programme
26/9/2014
Janine Jansen returns to the Chamber Orchestra of Europe as soloist/director for five concerts in Europe, with performances in Essen (5 October), Rotterdam (6 October), Grenoble (8 October) and Dijon (9 October), ending on 11 October in Utrecht’s TivoliVredenburg, where she is Artist-in-Residence this season. The programme of musical tributes features Ravel’s Le tombeau de Couperin, Schnittke’s Sonata for violin and chamber orchestra (1968) and Moz-Art à la Haydn for two violins (performed with the orchestra’s leader Lorenza Borrani), as well as Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.3 and Symphony No.39.
This follows Janine’s appearance with the orchestra last season, when she was soloist in Brahms’ Violin Concerto at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw under the baton of Bernard Haitink.
More recently, Janine was Featured Artist at the 2014 BBC Proms where she performed at the Last Night of the Proms, which was broadcast to millions of viewers throughout the world. This season she gives the world premiere performances of a new violin concerto by Michel van der Aa with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra/Vladimir Jurowski and with the Bergen Philharmonic/Andrew Litton. She also returns to the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra to perform the Brahms Concerto with Valery Gergiev.
