Pablo Heras-Casado and Charlotte Hellekant in a new production of L’Orfeo by Sasha Waltz
29/8/2014
Pablo Heras-Casado leads the Freiburger Barock-Consort in a new production of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo by Sasha Waltz and Guests. The production features Charlotte Hellekant in the roles of La Messagiera and La Speranza and will premiere at the Dutch National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam on 3 September. Further performances take place at Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg, Bergen International Festival, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and Opéra de Lille.
This is Heras-Casado’s second collaboration with Sasha Waltz and Guests, following the world premiere of Hosokawa’s Matsukaze in Brussels in 2011, again featuring Charlotte Hellekant alongside Barbara Hannigan in the leading roles. He regularly works with the musicians of the Freiburger BarockConsort and the Freiburger Barockorchester — most recently for his debut at the Festival d’Aix en Provence in Simon McBurney’s production of Die Zauberflöte. The orchestra and conductor also recently received an ECHO Klassik award for their harmonia mundi recording of Schubert’s Symphonies Nos.3 & 4.
