Arvo Volmer returns to St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra
24/4/2014
Arvo Volmer returns to the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra to conduct works by Mozart and Sibelius on 24 April. A regular guest with the orchestra, Volmer brings a programme which opens with Mozart’s Overture to Don Giovanni and Symphony No.40. The second half of the concert is devoted to Volmer’s acclaimed interpretations of Sibelius when he conducts the Finnish composer’s Swan of Tuonela and Symphony No.3.
Immediately following the engagement, Volmer travels to Brazil for three concerts with the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo on 1, 2 & 3 May, conducting works by Schumann, Beethoven and Sibelius.
The dates mark his return to South America after a highly successful tour to the continent with the NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg in autumn 2013.
