HarrisonParrott signs mezzo-soprano Rachel Kelly
5/3/2014
HarrisonParrott is delighted to welcome Irish mezzo-soprano Rachel Kelly to its roster for worldwide general management.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London and a member of the National Opera Studio in 2012/13, Rachel joined the prestigious Jette Parker Young Artist Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, earlier this season. She is also a former Solti Accademia young artist, a current Samling Scholar and recipient of the 2012 Bernadette Greevy Bursary Award from the National Concert Hall, Dublin.
Unanimously praised for her portrayal of the Cat in El gato con botas (Puss in Boots) at the Linbury Theatre last autumn, Rachel subsequently made a noted debut on the main Royal Opera House stage as Mercedes in Carmen. Other operatic appearances include Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro (Lismore Festival Opera), Beatrice in Beatrice et Benedict and Wu in the world premiere of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies’ Kommilitonen – all at the Royal Academy of Music.
In recital and concert, Rachel has already performed at Carnegie Hall, the St Petersburg Academy of Arts, Wexford Festival Opera House, the Oxford Lieder Festival, the National Concert Hall Dublin and recorded for New World Records.
Future engagements include Mirinda in Cavalli’s L’Ormindo, directed by Kasper Holten, in the first collaboration between Shakespeare’s Globe and the Royal Opera House, and her Wigmore Hall debut later this year as part of a Samling Foundation showcase.
