Trondheim Symfoniorkester and Krzysztof Urbański undertake European tour
21/10/2013
The Trondheim Symfoniorkester and Krzysztof Urbański have made their first tour together since Urbański became Artistic Leader/Chief Conductor of the orchestra.
The tour programme included Grieg’s Piano Concerto with soloist Jan Lisiecki (Gramophone magazine’s Young Artist of the Year for 2013), and Lutoslawski’s Concerto for Orchestra. Also part of the touring programme was Wojciech Kilar’s Orawa.
The orchestra visited the Kölner Philharmonie on 27 October — where Kölnische Rundschau reviewed: “Urbański always allows the orchestra to sing out wonderfully, and to shine. The Trondheim Symphony Orchestra played as precisely as they did energetically.” They then performed at the Wiener Konzerthaus on 28 October, before travelling to Poland for further concerts in Kraków and Warsaw. Urbański returns to the Konzerthaus, to conduct the Wiener Symphonieorchester, in spring 2014.
