HarrisonParrott takes a diverse range of concert tours to Turkey during spring 2013. This continues the company’s strong track record in the country, which has included arranging first-time appearances in Turkey by Kodo, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and Academy of Ancient Music, and most recently a 2012 visit by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestraconducted by Lorin Maazel.

Highlights include Spira mirabilis’ first concert appearance outside Europe; the ensemble performed Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.4 (Italian) at Istanbul’s Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall on 23 February.

On 2 April, the Kammerorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, conducted by Radoslaw Szulc, made its Istanbul debut at Iş Sanat Concert Hall, in a concert also featuring soloist Martin Fröst. The programme comprised Mozart’s A Musical Joke and Clarinet Concerto, as well Mahler’s string orchestra arrangement of Schubert’s Death and the Maiden quartet.

On 2 May, flamenco dancer Maria Tavora appears at Boğaziçi (Bosphorus) University’s Albert Long Hall, in a traditional flamenco show featuring her troupe of guitarists, singers and percussionists.

HarrisonParrott’s relationship with Turkey goes back to the 1990’s; in 2004, the company co-presented Şimdi Now – a festival of Turkish Culture in Berlin, and in 2010 was consultant to La Saison de la Turquie – a festival of Turkish culture across France.
