Scottish Ensemble tour to Istanbul with Alison Balsom
13/3/2012
The Scottish Ensemble make their debut in Istanbul on Saturday March 17 at Is Sanat Hall, with award-winning soloist Alison Balsom. Their sumptuous programme includes Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky, as well as Balsom’s own transcription of a Vivaldi Violin Concerto and the Turkish premiere of James Macmillan’s Seraph, written for Balsom herself and available on the chart-topping EMI disc of the same title, recorded with the Scottish Ensemble. This programme was performed to great success around the UK last week as part of Orchestras Live and Music Nation, part of the London’s 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
