The King’s Singers return after successful Asian tour
20/12/2011
The King’s Singers return home following their hugely successful tour of Asia in early December. Performing in no less than ten venues across Korea, China and Singapore, the tour included concerts at Seoul Arts Center, Beijing’s National Center for the Performing Arts, Shanghai’s Oriental Arts Center and finally at a sold-out Esplanade Theatre, Singapore. Commenting on this final performance, the Straits Timeswrote: “The glory of polyphony pleases the ear with its myriad shifts and variations of harmonies, and with voices ringing as clearly as bells, the effect was magical. Whether it was in German (Est Ist Ein Ros’entsprungen), French (Noel Nouvelet), Spanish (Oyd, Oyd, Una Cosa) or Catalan (El Nino Querido), the ensemble was magnificent in its intonation and unity, joyfully communicating the essence of the festive season.”
Performing a wide range of Christmas repertoire, the group began their two-week journey around Asia on 3 December with a performance in South Korea at the Ansan Culture & Art Center.
