Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra tours to Bucharest and Prague

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra joins its Music Director Vasily Petrenko on tour in Bucharest and Prague. In their Romanian debuts, and under the aegis of the Enescu Festival in Bucharest, the Orchestra and Petrenko, give two concerts in the Palace Hall (the Sala Palatului). The programme features Enescu’s Suite No. 2 and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 7, with violinist Midori joining them for Walton’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra. In the second concert, they perform Stravinsky’s Symphony in Three Movements and Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 3. Russian pianist Alexei Volodin is the soloist in the concert’s other work, Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.3. From Bucharest it’s on to Prague, where the RLPO make their ninth appearance performing in the magnificent surroundings of the Rudolfinum as part of the Prague Dvořák Festival. Repertoire includes The Wild Dove by Dvořák and Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 3 — young pianist Lukáš Vondrácek joins for Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2.
