In 2007 HarrisonParrott was approached by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Poland to assist in creating a year of events in the UK to raise awareness of Polish culture. Polska! Year brought together 200 projects featuring Polish music, art, theatre and film all over the UK, taking place under the patronage of HM The Queen and HE The President of the Republic of Poland.
The specific remit was to research, identify and help facilitate opportunities for programming performances of Polish classical music during the Polska! festival between April 2009 and March 2010.
HarrisonParrott was able to deliver a number of projects for the cultural year including:
- facilitating a weekend event at Southbank Centre curated by Nigel Kennedy and featuring Polish classical music and jazz
- the development of a special Chopin 200th anniversary International Piano Series, including a wealth of talks, a forum of experts and a masterclass, as well as recitals by Krystian Zimerman and Maurizio Pollini — previous Chopin competition winners
- Assisting with touring projects for Polish ensembles and orchestras
- Building relationships between promoters and the AMI so that all Polish musical events were featured and supported by the Polska! Year
